2 main problem and solutions

2 main problems for the Mayan, which led to their catastrophe were:
1.Over populated
2.Slash-and-burn farming

Solutions for these problem, for us are:
1. Reduce the amount of birthrate.
2. Change type of farming from slash-and-burn. Also, instead of just eat things from farming, also eat meat. They could herd and fishing. They can also do hunting.

Tuesday Advertising Hwk

Q1) When we watch advertisements, we got ourselves attracted to the product and started to purchase and consume things.
Q2) No I don't think citizen are sufficiently informed about sustainability. However, it's easy to inform them. Firstly, we could use media for advertising and spreading the idea. The most popular in particular, is televisions. Internet is also really good, but I don't think that everyone can afford a computer with access to the Internet. For the content, in the advertisement, tell the audience both the good and the bad side of the products.
Q3) Advertisement tell us about the good side of a product and make us want to purchase it. They make the product very attractive and as a result, we buy the product.

Immigration Assessment

My uncle, immigrated to the US a few years ago. He was pulled to the US by a pull factor. It has greater opportunities, in earning more money and having better education ground for his children. He decided to take this external immigration because to him, Vietnam couldn’t provide the same quality of education. Also, here in Ho Chi Minh City, the economy capital of Vietnam isn’t affordable for him to have a job of his profession that helps him earn more money.
Now, my uncle settled in Philadelphia. He said that he didn’t want to stay in the outskirt area because the urban area where he lives is better for his job. There, his customers come more than the outskirt. The bad thing is that his interactions with his neighbors seem to be difficult. Also, his children forgot some of Vietnamese culture and language. He told me that he miss his homeland, in Vietnam. He misses his family and friends, whom he left behind. But now, he has a much better life than in Vietnam

Car Land

In Car Land, there’s huge continent in the middle of the Petrolimex Sea. Southwest of the continent is an island, detached from the continent centuries ago because of earthquake and plates tectonic. Also, there is the Damuber Square. It’s an area of 4 islands. The first one is 50N 75E; second one is 55N 115E; third one is 15N 75E; the last one is 12N 18E. About 350 years later, there were a conflict between the people so they divided to three countries, Ferrari, Hummer and Toyota. Ferrari lies in the North, Hummer in the East, and Toyota in the South.
The Ferrari lived in a highland region with lot of mountains. To move around easier, they built roads for better movements and trades. Before, they lived near the mountains next to the border with Toyota country. Later, some started to move to the Northern Region, where the landscape isn’t as high and near the sea. During their movements, the Akna family (original) and Pakta family (mix) had a conflict, so the Akna moved to the North and Northwest while the Pakta moved to the Northeast. Their conflict continued until now.
The Hummer in the West lived in grass plain region, with temperate climate. It’s quite comfortable. There’s a place called the Zona Jungle. It’s in the province of Zek. The climate here is humid and but warm.  Sometimes, people see the trees in the jungle moved so none want to stay in the jungle. The Hummer took control of the Zek province after the conquest of Punicy. After that, they started to live in the grass plain of the province of Zek, partly because the climate is warmer in the winter, partly because they want to keep their border with the Toyota.
The Toyota lived in a lowland region with lots of resources, Diamond (their currency) and Oil (their only meal/food). Despite the fact that their land is the largest of all, their population is not as many as proportional. It’s because of the climate of the Haha Desert. It’s so hot and dry. And also, the Toyota people are not as good to travel in desert so it didn’t become their residential place until after the idea of hi-underneath concept from the Hummer country entered Toyota land. After that, people started to be citizen of the Haha Desert. Their city is around the oil oasis in the middle of the desert.
To get over the river, the Toyota built the Mers Bridge. Later, aside from trade, tourists began to go to the Mers Bridge because it’s an extraordinary bridge. Cable-Stayed style, 120m tall, 2km in length and 30m wide. Tourists also traveled to the Devil Horn, Northwest in Ferrari country. It’s a peak of land from the continent. The travel is a valley, separated from the main continent with a mountain range. So, that is my world, Car Land.

Presentation experience

From the presentation, I’ve learn a few things, about my family, my culture, and my friends’ culture. Firstly, I’ve learned from my research process, about my root. My father’s side was from the Southern part of Vietnam. My mother’s side though was from the Northern part of Vietnam. I was told that before, during the time of wars and hardships, my mother’s family moved to Ho Chi Minh City (when my mom was in the age of high school) because Ho Chi Minh City, at that time, provided a better education and better jobs. When my mother went to University, she met my father. They began dating and after they graduated for a couple years, they married. But almost a decade later, I came out (sorry, I didn’t include these in my presentation, because I was nervous and forgot what to say). For me, personally, know more about my roots is important because according to my father, my culture honor the older generations, our pioneers.

Secondly, I’ve learned from the presentation of my friend, Emily, about her great culture of China. The thing that caught my attention is the part that before, upper level women tied their feet. I know it was to show others that they are rich. In my opinion, I don’t think that was a good way to show their richness. I know that they tied their feet with silk (or fabric) and put their feet in a wooden box until they passed their age of growing. I think it was bad because, not only it interrupt the way those women grow, but also, by doing that, they would have to depend on others. If one day, they were no more rich, they couldn’t depend on others, but also, couldn’t do things on their own. That’s why I though it wasn’t a good way.

India ^.^

Asala'm' Alecume! (Indian for Hello) During summer, I went traveling a lot, but I like India trip more than the others. I like it, partly because it the only new place I went this summer, partly because of its impression on me. I  went to the Northern part of India, which is very mountainous and there are many lakes there, too. Apart from other area in India, Northern India is much chillier. It's only the summer, the people said that it could be heavily snowy in winter. Since it's so cold, they wear their own kind of scarf, Pashmina, which is made of cashmere wool, which made it quite a gift from the nature. And also, since there are many lakes, there are also many kind of boat, using for transportation. Normal boat, big boat, houseboat, and even a special kind, shikara. If you notice the xich lo in VN, the shikara is like a xich lo go on water. Since it near the border with Pakistan, I don't think it a good idea for a peaceful and non-violent trip. Police and army could be seen in patrol every 2km. Well, I didn't get caught in any fight during my trip, lucky me. Well, that's all I could remember.

About me

Hello Mr. B! I'm Jack from your 1st period (I guess you already know that).  I don't think I have many friends since I'm not good in socialized. When I'm bored, usually I'll play basketball or listen to music. My favorite kinds of music or RnB and sometimes others Pop  music. My favorite books are books in any genre but biography, autobiography, and diary. My favorite subject in school is PE but I've got the worst grade on that subject because PE always goes along with Health, and I don't like studying health. Hopefully this won't happen in your class ^.^!
